dirty carpet disco band

for close to three years Michael Wheatley has been working under the live name of Dirty Carpet Disco Band. The first gig was played at the Royal Hotel Bondi and that was where the name was born. the members where Calvin Welch on drums, Grant Fitzpatrick on bass, Patrick Carr on guitar and Michael Wheatley on keys and vocals. the band played a gutsy 3 set gig with a packed dancefloor and so was born Dirty Carpet Disco Band. since the band has played all sorts of rooms from chilled cocktail atmospheres to saturday nights at the Basement and fridays at Opera Bar.

now after many moons, gigs and recording sessions Dirty Carpet Disco Band is more often than not a 3 piece with Josh Wermut on bass, Ben Isackson on drums and Michael on vocals and keys. the trio plays a variety of "vibes" however the essence is always based in rootsy funk and minimal soul.

though there have been alot of recording sessions at various studios, until now, nothing has been released. the first song to come out from Dirty Carpet Disco Band featuring on OPERA BAR LIVE is Kissin In the Corner a two and a half minute tribute to power pop soul, if there ever was such a genre. it features Jon Wheatley on drums and Grant Fitzpatrick on bass.
